Back from vacation

You never realize how much you need a vacation till you get one.

Seeing Adam and Eric last weekend really loosened me up. We had a great time at the Tenacious D show. 16oz beers were $7 which I pointed out was cheap for SF. The show itself was good, they stayed true to the album. I will see the movie this weekend. The album out is just the movie soundtrack and I was not all that impressed. Other then that I spent a lot of time with my Sister and Brother in law that weekend and was pleased they also like Sushi and there is a good Sushi place in Stockton.

Then I had a short week at work and set out for my Arizona trip. If you ever decide to go to Hoover dam, be advised there is a lot of slow traffic which would be maddening on a motorcycle. The Dam itself was interesting and I got some good pictures I will post when I have the time.

After the Dam I took the 40 to Williams. What a disappointment a very small town. In the future I will stay at the railroad museum hotel or the Grand Canyon itself. I did get to use an old fashioned gas pump for the first time when I was there. The Grand Canyon Resort Hotel lacked a working TV or Internet and no alarm clock in the room on top of thin walls allowing neighbors to wake me up constantly.

When I woke up my car was covered in ice and it took several minutes to defrost. Then I headed to the train museum to take the train to the Grand Canyon. I decided against that when I was informed it was a $75 trip by train. So I drove "Stranger" my Mustang to the Grand Canyon. Along the way I stopped at an indian trading post and bought some great gifts.

The Grand Canyon itself was amazing, pictures and movies do not capture the size. I drove all around the rim and got lots of pictures. It was $25 per car to get into the park, I would recommend getting a pass in one of the shops on the way to save yourself the time of buying one at the park gate.

After the Canyon I drove to Phoenix and stayed at the 3 Palms resort which was really nice, I recommend it for the price. Sunday I met up with Jarret, Oaks, and Anthony to watch Football at 'tilted kilts' basically a Hooters sports bar. It was great seeing them and catching up with them.

After that I made the 7 hour drive back to Lake Forest, I only hit 45 minutes traffic which was shocking for a holiday weekend.

The only other downer is Stranger is making grinding noises from the rear axle again, so back to the dealership...

Now I am going to get busy with studying for my MCSA and I want to take the first test in the first or second week of December.
