Shaken...
I am really distraught over the article I posted last night. It is so unbelievable so many Americans support the government on blind faith right or wrong, when that same government acts so often in blatant Bad Faith. It's more then my cynicism, it is so depressing how predictable the self-destructive tendencies of Americans are. Unless something drastic happens soon the US will be at war with Iran for no good reason and gas prices will shoot up to levels that will cripple the American economy further increasing the trade deficit and destroying the value of the weak dollar. If I can see this consequence as obvious why doesn't the rest of America? What have countries that invade other countries been typically called in history? Evil empires, and what do they all have in common? A mighty fall, Romans, Mongols, France, Britain, Dutch, Russians can America buck history? Any idea on how we can stop this war short of forcing a draft that would wake up the American public and get them into the streets?
It is so amazing to me that something could be so wrong from a factual, theoretical, intellectual and moral stance and yet the Right wing will demand that the opposition deserves an equal say when they have very little data to back them eg. Nuclear Power and Evolution.
Nuclear Power is another subject that astounds me that there is any debate on at all. Nuclear power plants are basically giant steam generators. Seems like a lot of cost to make steam. Nuclear plants take at least a decade to build and always cost more then a billion dollars. What do we get from them? extremely dirty dangerous power. My main issue with Nuclear power plants though is their waste. I wrote a paper on this when I was in college and at that time there was 40,000 tons of Nuclear waste being stored haphazardly at Nuclear Plants around the country. We still don't have a place to put it and that amount is just growing every year. Yet here we are years later and the Bush Administration is trying to fund more potential Nuclear disasters:

I am looking forward to Michael Moore's new movie Sicko.
