New Job....
Well this will come as a surprise based on my last post, but I resigned from my job on Tuesday.
Stress was mounting to a ridiculous degree and they were still not allowing me to delegate to the help desk. Today they counter offered me and it finally got figured out.... Silly me I thought my job as a consultant was to maximize revenue. Actually according to them it is to document the crap out of the network and then sales will follow... My Method was stabilization, reasonable and critical documentation, make the sale then fill in less critical time consuming documentation as needed. In a more perfect world people who make less then me would fill in the gaps and handle user level issues. I have now been corrected I am supposed to be a one man show and damn the revenue once I hit a minimum. Fortunately, I already had two job offers and I will be accepting one tomorrow morning. At least I can leave with a clear conscious now that I know we fundamentally disagree on what my job was. I'm looking forward to a huge reduction in stress and increase in pay :) Plus an oppertunity to get back into enterprise technology.
So my last day will be May 15th. My new job starts June 2nd. In between I will be going to Alabama and Atlanta to see Mike. I'm also going to drive up to Eureka to see Adam for a few days.
Speaking of driving, Ford came back to me and offered me a $50 a month 7 year 100,000 mile warranty for Stranger so I've got that setup. I also paid off the last of my student loans. I'm hoping to have stranger paid off by the end of the year.
At the beginning of this month my old boss Lou was in Pleasanton and I had dinner with him. It was good to catch up with him and he helped give me some confidence in my job hunt.
I've seen a lot of movies since my last update. Persepolis the animated movie about an Iranian girl growing up in the midst of the revolution. The animation was excellent and I'll never look at a head scarf the same. Fight Club was playing at the SpeakEasy last night which I had never seen on the big screen so that was cool. I've also started rereading The Song of Fire & Ice.
I am making big progress on my CCNA should have that done by June 2nd.
My life has been consumed by work and looking for another job in the last few months. Looking forward to that changing :)
