Frost/Nixon
I went and saw "Frost/Nixon" the movie about the Interview where Nixon admitted his guilt and apologized in so many words. I didn't know the story before I saw the movie so it was all new to me and it was very interesting.
The movie did an excellent job of subtly visually communicating the traits of Frost and Nixon. I love it when movies don't try to beat you over the head with the obvious and leave you to figure it out. "Children of Men" is another example of a movie that pulls this off well.
They contrasted Frost and Nixon very well, they both what to be famous and liked but for completely different reasons. Nixon wants fame to justify has place and as acknowledgment for his brilliance. Frost is an entrepreneurial playboy type who thrives on attention and the big Hollywood larger then life image.
By the end of the movie I felt a greater understanding for the narcissism that drove Nixon to believe he was above the law and the loathing of people in general that fed his narcissism.
The SuperBowl was a very good game this year. I think the Steelers earned their win but the Cardinals did not embarrass themselves. If Matt Lienart can't step up next year they'll be back to the playoffs.
I did my Taxes this weekend. I'm getting a big enough refund to pay for my ticket to Munich and do some more upgrades to my car and a detail job. Despite taking two months off last year I actually made more then the year before :) I've applied for a new airline visa I will use to buy my Munich ticket which will earn me another plane ticket to California.
I'm flying back to California in 3 weeks for my Mom's bday. One nice thing about this down economy is things are getting cheaper. I rented a nice car for the whole weekend in Stockton for $25 out the door! I'm looking forward to visiting.
I am still enjoying Volunteering at Next Step. Next week I am starting new position their as a finalizer.
I also got my GPS it's great, and even shows my progress as I move.
Work has been insanely busy, I was assigned a project to create a virtual private network replicating an 8 server application. It took 3 weeks but I got it done last night!
