I'm updating today because I just got done watching 1984 for the first time. (I've read the book too) It reminded me of a quote that I realized I had to put on my site. you might have seen it, it is in red on my second splash page. (index0.htm) Anyway, I think the movie and book are about equal in quality, the book is of course more detailed but the imagery is very powerful in the movie.

I Watched the "Doom Generation" last night. It was pretty bad. I just watched it cause I'm a Rose McGowan fan.

I spent the day doing copy editing and watching football. Both playoff games were weak.

Something occurred to me the other day. I came up with the greatest reason to date why it is in the best interest of American capital NOT to go to war with Iraq.

If we start a war with Iraq, and can't win quickly. This could SERIOUSLY hurt the global economy with out of control oil prices. Venezuela is not producing. Iraq will not be producing anything, and the war could seriously impact shipments from the entire gulf region. Of course if it doesn't have an actual effect on production or shipments; there will still be the same virtual/Enron (an artificial manufacturing of a shortage) effect that will cause prices to rise.

So here we have a situation where going to war, has potential consequences that could seriously destabilize the entire global economy. On the other hand, we have a country clearly less dangerous then N. Korea. What is so shocking is that I have not heard anybody screaming this from their soap boxes. This is a clear potential outcome and yet I hear this argument to a degree but it always seems to be lightly taken. Perhaps I'm overestimating the power of global oil prices over the cost of production; although I seriously doubt it. Since, thinking this up, I have become extremely frustrated as I, a little common person has no real power to reach those who can make changes or at least reach the masses. With this reasoning, NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS! would want a war! This reasoning transcends oil lust or even humanitarian concerns for Iraqi's. This is just bad, bad, bad, for everyone, but ESPECIALLY the U.S.

Check your lunar Calendar, I predict the war will start on March 3rd 2003, that is the first new moon of March, when the U.S. government says it will be ready to fight Iraq. Somalia and Desert Storm were both launched on New moons. Probably other conflicts as well, those are just the two I know offhand.

Of course there are not many links today, since I updated yesterday.
