I just finished writing one of 3 papers I have due before the 14th. One of the two remaining will be easy. The other I don't even have a topic for yet. I'm confident I can get them all done though.
So the U.S. economy is showing signs of a death rattle again. Home sales were off 15% in February, consumer spending dropped and so did orders for manufactured goods. I've also seen more then one PBS market analyst predict there will be a MAJOR market drop when the war starts of around 1,000 points! Of course gas prices are already at gulf war levels. Why is this war good for America again? Oh thats right the faith based threat from Iraq...
The new developments with N. Korea are proving how amazingly hypocritical the Bush administration is between Iraq and N. Korea. Its like N. Korea is playing "Anything you can do I can do better..." with regard to Iraq. Every thing the U.S. accuses Iraq of doing N. Korea then immediately does worse. The sad part is we could fix N. Korea real fast. Although, at the same time the impotence of Iraq doesn't make them worth our time, except for the oil of course.
The third link is there because if you read the story it looks like the US is being abused by Canadian subsidies. What the article does not mention is that the US has the highest farm subsidies in the world and is killing the world food market by lowering food commodity prices below the cost of production!
Its being said that Iraq will be invaded next week. At the moment it also looks like Bush will not get his second War authorization resolution from the UN. When you read the 4th link you'll see why that could be a possibility. Don't bet on Turkey approving the U.S. troop deployment either. Even, if there is a second vote, I'll bet there will be even more "No" votes the second time just so the politicians can claim to be on the popular side. I've also read that Bush really missed a critical window of opportunity by not launching yesterday. At the moment it appears he will have to attack on a full moon, without all of his troops in position. Although he can't wait for them to unpack because Iraq gets a lot hotter after 3/15 and the sand storm season starts. I don't like the idea of US troops dieing; but maybe another grand failure is what this Chickenhawk administration needs to cool their heels. However, if they lose they won't get reelected with the shape the economy is in and what the war will do to the economy.
I couldn't update news for counter punch they were down.
