Confidence or Arrogance

So recently I have been thinking on the Topic of Confidence. Specifically where is the line between arrogance and confidence. In the course of my life I have been called arrogant more than once. To me the definition of arrogance is unjustified confidence. I however, feel that my confidence is justified in my Genius, writing and speaking ability and the fact I do not try and express supremacy in areas I am inadequate such as sports. So then why would I be considered arrogant for expressing my supremacy in these areas?

Well I worked it out. Confidence is more then an expression of self-esteem. I believe it to be a social construct in that, the line where confidence becomes arrogance is determined on an individual basis for each member of society based on their physical being, i.e. only the obviously rich and beautiful are allowed maximum confidence and the ugly, mentally Ill, Homeless skank is allowed ZERO confidence. Everyone else falls somewhere in the middle and the closer you are to either extreme the more or less confidence you are allowed before it becomes arrogance.

At this point this is just a theory, although everyone I have shared it with thinks its dead on. Exit.

Update 2/26/03~ Nietzsche defines arrogance as not observing your limits. This also fits with my theory. I like it too.
