Reperations for African Americans

Reparations are the dumbest thing to ever come out of the black power movement to date.

I always like to start with history so I'll begin there. When did these transgressions occur that American Blacks want compensation for? Well that would 150 years ago before the emancipation proclamation. So all of those DIRECTLY hurt by slavery are long dead.

Next, bearing history in mind let us not forget our puritan tradition that makes American's social Darwinists at heart, meaning even if you say that your position of poverty is a direct result of your ancestors slavery, we would say that it is your own laziness/stupidity that keeps you in poverty.

Also, do not forget our protestant tradition that has instilled the belief that any man can achieve the American dream through hard work and that any handouts are to be seen as unearned and invalid payments. That is why we all pay into social security; we feel that to get something from the system you must contribute your fair share DIRECTLY.

So therefore, Reparations are TOTALLY contrary to American Ideals of Hardwork and Social Darwinism. There is nothing that will divide Whites from Blacks, like giving Blacks what Whites feel is rightfully theirs. After all avarice is one of the greatest motivators of human beings.

What the African American does deserve is a no contest apology. Meaning the President should apologize for the US governments past policies of condoning slavery, Dred Scott, Separate but equal, the KKK, and every other form of Jim Crow garbage, black Americans have endured. I say no contest though because, the government should admit fault, although it should not be liable.
